March 2013 Newsletter
It's March already, spring is around the corner, and the Bridge Club has several exciting events coming up!

On March 14th, there will be a "shark" and "minnow" game. It will be an open game as usual, but we're hoping to pair up Life Masters with less experienced players. If this turns out to be popular, The Bridge Club might consider doing a "mentor" game on a regular basis. Please consider signing up. (The game is open to everyone, not just the sharks and minnows).

The Patriots' Day Sectional is April 17th - 19th.  All the information is on the Club's website: bridgedeckclub.org, and there are fliers at the Club. Lots of silver points available . Please mark your calendar. We need help for set up, takedown, refreshments, caddying….anything you can do to make this another successful tournament. Sectionals are “showcases” for the host clubs. A good time to show what a great club we are!

The "Eight is Enough" Swiss Team Game on February 28th was very well attended (eighteen teams), and everyone seemed to have a good time. The winners were the following:

First Place: Connie Tigert - J. Donald Tigert - Brian Jenner - Ernie Hamsag
Second Place: Sue Kluger - Ross Lounsbury - Anne Pickett - June Brown

Congratulations to both teams, and all the other participants.  Everyone who played got some points!
Many thanks to Angie Maranger for chairing the event, and many thanks to Janet and Ken Dixon for their great job at putting teams together.

Ellie and Wayne Goodrich not only ran the game but also doubled as caddies! We'll make certain that we have that situation under control next time. Big thanks to them for their hard work.

Our Game Director staff does a great job.  We would like to add another one or two to help out once in a while.  If you have interest in becoming a director, call Ellie.  There is study material available through ACBL and, eventually, an open book test to take. Give it some thought.

We're also considering having Swiss Team games on Saturdays next winter, January through March.  Please share your thoughts and comments with Board members or even attend the next Board Meeting on March 11th @ 10:45 am.

Some of our members will soon be heading back north. Thanks so much for all your support, and we look forward to seeing you next fall or winter.

One last thing: There are a few members who help clean up after every game. We know everyone is in a hurry to leave after the results are posted, but if we all check around the tables for trash, those who are cleaning up can leave a little sooner. And that would be greatly appreciated.
