It’s summertime and, as usual, attendance is down. We are grateful to all the regular players who have faithfully attended our Monday, Wednesday and Friday games, to our game-day directors, and to those who come in to play at the last moment to fill in. September will see many of our snowbird-members return and games will quickly increase in size.

We have not been idle down here, though. We are busy planning the coming season :

  • The attendance and performance-based rewards program is in full swing, and we expect it to continue resulting in a lot of free plays. Thank you, Tom Urso for this great idea.

We will be asking the Board of Governors to approve additional programs for the season:

  • A weekly novice game, possibly with interactive coaching.
  • Chalk talks before many of the daily games.

Marcia Reff will be doing her usual excellent job managing the education program. Watch for the starting dates in next month’s newsletter, or call Marcia at 239-775-8460 for details.

We are planning to go back to our regular Monday through Friday games beginning right after the Regional (October 15-21).

August 1st marked the beginning of our third year at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, and we have a new lease! The church has made many improvements to the facility. Many thanks to Dennis Dubois, St. Peter’s Business Manager, and to Roberto Camarillo, the Facilities Manager for all they do to make us feel right at home.

This newsletter now has a new editorial staff and an expanded data base. We hope to keep you all informed about the club on a monthly basis beginning in September. Please give us your feedback. If you have any ideas on what we can do to improve the club, we’d love to hear about it.

Please let us know your thoughts!

Wayne and Ellie Goodrich, for your Board of Governors
